Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Bristogether handles information when you use the Bristogether mobile app, related web pages, and support channels.
1. Information we collect
- Account and profile information: email address, name, user ID, date of birth, gender, photos and profile preferences. Matching preferences may reveal sexual orientation.
- Content you create: messages, profile updates, event interactions, and other content you choose to share through the app.
- Device and diagnostic information: device identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, device type, operating system, app version, app interactions, crash and performance data, and recorded sessions used to diagnose problems and improve features.
- Calendar: device calendar access is used locally to add events; we do not upload your device calendar.
- Notifications: device/subscription identifiers support push messaging; receiving alerts depends on your notification permission.
2. Camera and other permissions
Bristogether requests camera access only when you choose to take or add a photo, for example when creating or updating a profile photo or selfie. The app does not use the camera in the background.
If you choose to add events to your calendar, the app may request calendar access for that action. If you enable notifications, the app may request notification permission so it can send app-related alerts.
3. How we use information
- To operate the app and provide account, profile, messaging, and event features.
- To let you upload and display profile photos and other content you choose to share.
- To support optional features such as calendar sync and notifications when you enable them.
- To monitor performance, fix bugs, prevent abuse, and improve the service.
- To respond to support, safety, and privacy-related requests.
4. Sharing
Bristogether does not sell your personal information. Information may be shared only with service providers that help run the app, when you direct the app to share something, or where required for legal, safety, or security reasons.
Providers include Supabase for accounts and app data, Cloudflare for hosting and photo storage, Resend for account emails, PostHog and Sentry for analytics and diagnostics, and OneSignal for notifications. OpenAI checks submitted profile text, group text and photos for unsafe content. If you message an AI profile, Google Gemini processes your message and recent conversation to generate a reply. Profiles and content may be visible to other users according to the feature and your privacy settings.
5. Data storage and security
Bristogether uses technical and organizational measures designed to protect information in transit and at rest. No system can promise absolute security, but reasonable steps are taken to protect app data and limit access.
6. Your choices
- You can choose whether to grant camera, calendar, and notification permissions.
- You can update or remove profile information you have added.
- You can request account or data deletion at /delete-account/, without signing in.
7. Support and privacy requests
For support or privacy-related questions, visit /support. If you are signed in to the app, you can also use the in-app feedback/support flow.
8. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version will be posted at this page.
